The Research
In 1988, scientific research was done on the Schrijver systeem®. The research consisted of two tests, and the results of the first test below shows excellent results. In this test the water saturation of two test walls was registered for a period of 12 weeks. Both walls had been placed into containers for 3 weeks to absorb water until the point of saturation was reached and the level of water absorption had dropped to a minimum.
Table 1 shows a clear difference between wall A (with the Schrijver systeem®) and the wall without the system in terms of relative humidity (RH).
|
Readings in the cavity | |||
| Date | Wall A | Wall B | Difference A & B in % |
| 21 November | 83% RH | 95% RH | 12% RH |
| 19 December | 62% RH | 94% RH | 32% RH |
| 21 January | 50% RH | 82% RH | 32% RH |
|
Readings behind the cavity | |||
| Date | Wall A | Wall B | Difference A & B in % |
| 21 November | 42% RH | 57% RH | 15% RH |
| 21 January | 31% RH | 49% RH | 18% RH |

Test II: Test Results
Every day throughout the test period, each element removed 339 ml of water in the wall fitted with the Schrijver systeem® (wall A). Only 140 ml of water was removed from wall B without the system (see table 2). (1000 ml is approx. 1/5 gallon). A difference of almost 200 ml per element per day!
The impact the Schrijver systeem® has on the relative humidity (RH) was also recorded (figure 2). Here the test results were remarkable too. The RH in the enclosed space behind wall A where the Schrijver systeem® was located was lower by 30% than the RH in the space behind the wall without the system. An outstanding result.
| Date | Wall A with Schrijver systeem | Wall B without Schrijver systeem | Difference A & B in milliliters |
| 28 October | 0 mL | 0 mL | 0 mL |
| 6 November | 1350 mL | 830 mL | 485 mL |
| 12 November | 3000 mL | 1720 mL | 1280 mL |
| 27 November | 3649 mL | 1000 mL | 2649 mL |
| 14 December | 4600 mL | 1850 mL | 2750 mL |
| 2 January | 5300 mL | 950 mL | 4350 mL |
| total with wind | 52123 mL | 21539 mL | 30584 mL |
table 2
There is a clear difference between wall A and wall B. After 11 weeks and using only two elements, the difference was more than 30 liters (6.6 gallons)! As the Schrijver systeem® works all year round, it will continue to remove damp after the 11 week period, as it is an ongoing process.
| Wall A | Wall B | Difference A & B in milliliters | |
| total without wind | 72 mL | 9 mL | 63 mL |
table 3
Even without windy weather conditions, wall A with the Schrijver systeem® removes substantially more water than wall B without the system installed.

Summary
The Schrijver systeem® is an essential factor in eliminating, preventing and controlling problems caused by damp. The multifunctional results (dry walls and a decrease in the relative humidity within the house) brought about this system, means that you can achieve a dry and healthy living environment and a substantial cut in heating bills. Thanks to this system the building will be better preserved. The system requires little maintenance once it's been installed. In short: a unique, environment friendly system, which you should not be without in a countries such as the United Kingdom!
